This is a kookaburra. They are incredibly noisy.

I still don't know why we learned the song about kookaburra when we were children but it seems to have been a mainstay in Brantford and Fonthill. Both Tricia and I know the song and can still sing it. BTW, the tree is some kind of ecalyptus, not a gum tree.
